Sango is the spirit of thunder and lightning. In the Yoruba mythology, Sango manifested as the king of Oyo; and it was believed that when Sango speaks, ﬁre and smoke comes out of his mouth and nose. Among the Yorubas of the New World, Sango was synchronized with Saint Barbara. Sango was so feared by the Yorubas and many people believed that if someone made a false oath on Sango the person could be struck dovim by lightning. Sango priests and prlestesses usually wear tiny red and white beads. Twin children are considered children of Sango. Thunderstone is the most common representation of Sango.
