Araba Adedayo Ologundudu was born into the Yoruba Tribe, and is native to Ile-Ife, Nigeria. In 1977, Araba Adedayo Ologundudu founded the Obatala Cultural Center in Nigeria, with the purpose of further developing Yoruba music, dance, and art. During the years 1981-1983, while in New York City, Araba Adedayo Ologundudu taught classes in Yoruba Language and the Ifa Divination System throughout the Caribbean and at the Caribbean Cultural Center. In 1987, he coordinated the First Conference of Ifa Priests’ & Priestess’. He is the founder and executive director of Ile Orunmila.org, which is a spiritual temple founded in Brooklyn NY, 1995. The Center for Spoken Words and Performing Arts was founded by Araba Adedayo Ologundudu in 2004, which gave a platform to many of the artists’ , performers’, and organizations who can be seen today on TV and the Internet. In 2008, after 28 years of research, his first book, “The Cradle of Yoruba Culture”, was first published in English, and followed in 2009 by the Spanish version, co-edited by Oluwo Antonio Prada. “The Original Major Odu Ifa, of Ile Ife”, was also published in 2009. In addition, he initiated Glofem, a non profit organization dedicated to improving and escalating the use of environmental systems management worldwide.
His initiation into the cult of Ogun, and Babalao/Atayese of the Ifa Divination System, has given him the impetus to instill the spiritual and cultural changes that literally thousands are now utilizing to empower their lives.
On June 28th, 2014, Araba Adedayo Ologundudu was ordained the First Araba of the United States by the Araba Agbaye and the council of Elders at the Headquarters of Ifa and Orisa religion worldwide in Oketase, Ile Ife, and witnessed by several Traditional Kings of Yoruba Land.
For over 35 years, Araba Adedayo Ologundudu has lived in the United States, actively carrying on the Yoruba tradition both in Nigeria, the Caribbean, and America.
Araba Adedayo Ologundudu holds a Bachelor of Professional Degree in Construction Management, and a Master of Science Degree in Urban Environmental Systems Management from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn NY.
As a drummer and musician, he has performed and lectured at many venues in the United States, including the Smithsonian Museum in Washington DC, and the Museum of Natural History in New York City.
